Uninstall
Remove Snipstack, and the files and entries it leaves behind on each system.
Uninstalling removes the app but keeps your library, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. To remove everything, delete the leftovers listed below as well.
Before you start:
- Export your library if you might want it later (Import and export).
- Turn off Launch at login in Settings > General, so no login entry is left behind.
- Quit Snipstack with Quit Snipstack in the tray or menu bar menu; closing the window only hides it.
Windows
Uninstall Snipstack from Settings > Apps > Installed apps. The uninstaller also removes the update cache (%LOCALAPPDATA%\snipstack-updater).
Left behind: %APPDATA%\Snipstack, with your library, backups, logs and the encrypted token. Delete the folder to remove them.
macOS
Drag Snipstack from Applications to the Trash.
Left behind:
~/Library/Application Support/Snipstack(library, backups, encrypted token);~/Library/Logs/Snipstack(logs);- Snipstack’s entry under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility, if you allowed auto-paste: select it and remove it;
- the key used to encrypt the database token, stored in your login keychain: search for Snipstack in Keychain Access.
Linux
- AppImage: delete the
.AppImagefile. - deb: remove the package with your package manager, for example
sudo apt removefollowed by the package name thatdpkg -l | grep -i snipstackshows.
Left behind:
~/.config/Snipstack(library, backups, logs, encrypted token);~/.config/autostart/snipstack.desktop, if Launch at login was on;~/.cache/snipstack-updater(AppImage update cache);- the key used to encrypt the token, in your desktop’s keyring (for example GNOME Keyring, via Passwords and Keys).
Your database
If you synced, your library is still in your Turso database. Snipstack never deletes it. To remove it, delete the database and revoke its tokens in your Turso account, for example with turso db destroy <name>.
